Hey, Jammers! Good morning, afternoon, or evening!
I want to notify you all of a few rule changes that we haven’t officially announced yet, as well as our current policy with notices, warnings, and blocks.
First of all, we have been considering adding the word “Gyatt” to the banned words list. The reasoning behind this is that A. the original usage of the word and its common uses are not appropriate for this wiki and B. it is not used in common speech beyond jokes that also aren’t appropriate for the wiki. However, this is open to discussion! If you have an alternate reason why or why not to allow the word, please voice it in the comments!
Second, I would like to explain a few things that we moderators have been doing and a rule that we have adapted. Our “no defamation or impersonation” rule has been extended to include revealing random strangers’ usernames on this wiki without permission from them (or, if they are a scammer, without valid proof!) This is because posting peoples’ usernames could lead to them receiving harassment or being targeted by scammers or hackers. This wiki is a big place, and whatever is posted here is permanent. We don’t want any innocent AJ players receiving harassment because of their usernames being posted here. So, we ask you to please crop or edit out any usernames displayed in screenshots from AJ, and if you are posting a scammer callout post, provide sufficient evidence that the user is a scammer, or your post will be deleted.
Another thing I would like to explain is the “notice>warning>block” system we have been using. We started sending notices as a way to let users know they are breaking a rule and give them a chance to stop breaking that rule, without sending an official warning. A notice basically says, “Hey, we don’t know if you know this, but you’re breaking a rule. Please read the rules carefully, and if you break this rule again, you will receive an official warning!” You may receive notices for several different rules, but this is only if they are all minor infractions. Otherwise, you will start receiving warnings. This only applies to very small rule-breaking, though. Things like vulgar language and rude behavior will receive a warning, no notice.
Warnings are official messages telling you that you are breaking this rule, and if you break it again, you may be blocked for a short time or sent another warning. Also, if you have too many warnings for different things, we may block you for breaking too many rules. We sometimes send block notices to tell you why you have been blocked, for how long, and what the consequences will be if you break another rule. However, we have a no-tolerance policy for vandals. If you vandalize the wiki, you will be blocked permanently.
Block durations are decided at the discretion of the blocking admin, which is usually me. I do my best to make sure everyone who is blocked is blocked for a fair amount of time, but I may make mistakes. Also, if you’ve been temp blocked previously and get blocked again, the second block will usually either be triple the length of the first, or infinite, depending on what the infraction is.
I would like to remind you all to read the rules. We’ve had a number of users breaking rules recently, so it’s obvious that a lot of you are not familiar with our rules. Here’s a reminder of a few things that are against the rules:
Buying/selling for over max
Spamming
Taking out-of-game commissions for in-game items
Making inappropriate jokes
These are a few of the rules that have been most broken recently. Please read through the rules if you haven’t done that yet, and familiarize yourself with them. We will be updating them soon to reflect the changes that have been made.
Pear would also like to remind everyone to please put your posts in the right categories!! Please don't post in the "Wiki Announcements" category unless you are a moderator/administrator or have permission from a mod/admin! Check out the Discussion Category Guide if you don't know which category to put your post in
Also, I would like to make you all aware that we may be looking to hire new content moderators soon, so if you’re interested, start considering that as a possibility!
Thanks for reading through the post, and I hope you all have a fantastic day.
Jam On!
