The Note Scrap appears to be a torn-up piece of off-white paper. When placed in a den, it has an icon in the shape of an open book above it, that, once clicked, reveals a pop-up message with different fractions of a sentence depending on the number in the item's name.
The specific message displayed when placing and clicking the item in a player's den depends on the number of the Note Scrap.
When read in the order dictated by the game, the text doesn't make sense. Players are required to find the right order of messages themselves to understand the context.
