Phantom Rifts were found in three different areas throughout the map: Jamaa Township, Lost Temple of Zios, and Mt. Shiveer. It could be attacked by using the Paintseed Launcher Pack, and prizes may be earned from the rifts. The rift at Jamaa Township was defeated on October 26th, 2020 and closed. The rift at Mt. Shiveer was defeated late on October 26th, or early October 27th. The rift at Zios was the last one to be defeated, and was closed on October 28th. Players who were actively throwing seeds into the rift as it closed did not win any additional prizes.
When a Paintseed has been thrown into the rift, it becomes a glowing spot of color, however, they may also be thrown near the rift in which they will stay as Paintseeds until they explode. Once the player has thrown 12 Paintseeds into the rift, the 12 Paintseeds would explode together at once, resulting in damage. The player may also click the green checkmark next to the paintseed button to individually explode the paintseeds. If a player was to walk away from the rift without exploding the paintseeds, the seeds will automatically explode themselves. The rift displays a health meter in purple in the rift, and when it is empty, the rift will be defeated and close.
At random times 2 treasure chests will appear to the side of the purple health meter in the rift. The player can click on these chests to open them. (One chest is member only). The player will receive a prize for each chest they open. The chests only stay on screen for about 15 seconds before they disappear again.
If a player stood too close to the rift while launching paintseeds, they would experience Phantom Miasma, which would prevent them from throwing more paintseeds until the next day in AJ. However, this feature was removed around October 17, 2020.
The Phantom Rifts were officially all closed on October 28, 2020. All jammers who logged in that day received a Phantom Rift Contribution Plaque.
