Sapphires are a form of currency that was first introduced in March 2015 during Beta Testing, and were removed when Beta Testing ended. Sapphires later came back in March 2016.
Appearance
Sapphires appear as small, indigo-colored, square-shaped gems with sharp edges. They appear to be sparkling.
Obtaining
Sapphires can be won from daily Treasure Hunts, especially on 'Sapphire' Wednesdays, or bought with real money through in-app purchases. In Volume 19 of the Play Wild Jamaa Journal, it was announced that Animal Jam members would receive one free Sapphire daily, in addition to the ones earned in Treasure Hunts. As of 2017, members get daily sapphires. Since the December 2017 update, Sapphires can also be obtained through Levels and Achievements.
Usage
Sapphires can be spent at the Sapphire Shop to purchase exclusive Animals, Pets, Dens, furniture, music and clothing. As of June 2016, there are 5 Animals, 2 Pets, 7 Dens, 34 furniture items, 16 songs and 28 clothing items. They can also be exchanged for Gems at the following rates: 10 Sapphires to 1,000 Gems; 50 Sapphires to 5,000 Gems; and 100 Sapphires to 11,000 Gems.
Trivia
- They are used similarly to the diamonds on Animal Jam.
