Personal Information[]
Everything you share about yourself on Animal Jam is a PUZZLE PIECE that can be put together to reveal your identity, and that information can be used to scare or hurt you! Be cautious about which pieces of yourself you share, and who might find them and put them together!
Before you:
- Share your social media info
- Use ANY part of your real name
- Talk about where you live
STOP and think about what a bully could do with that information and keep those puzzle pieces to yourself!
Be careful with the information you put into your username! Usernames should NOT have:
- Your real name
- Your birthday
- Where you live
- Any other personal information!
NEVER share Any information that relates to your password! Like, what if you have a cat named Sprinkles and your password is "kittysprinkles"? If someone knows what your cat's name is, they could USE that information to help them guess your password!

Account Security[]
Account security starts with a secure PASSWORD! Not even a friend should be able to guess yours!
Use a phrase or combination of words to make a password easy for you to remember, but harder for other people (and computers) to guess!
The best security is 2-Step Verification! Once you turn it on, a unique code will be sent to your parent email, and you'll enter that code along with your password!
With 2 steps instead of one, it's practically impossible for a scammer to get into your account!
Make sure you NEVER share the code from the email with ANYONE! Animal Jam will NEVER ask for this code, so don't ever send it to someone else, even if they SAY they're from Animal Jam!
Animal Jam will also NEVER ask you to turn off 2-Step Verification!

Scams & Trading[]
Always be CAUTIOUS when using the Trade system! Your items are your responsibility, and once they're traded to another player, they become THAT player's responsibility.
Don't trade away an item unless you're okay with never getting it back!
MOST scams on Animal Jam have to do with Trades, Shops or "giveaways". Remember: if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably isn't true!
Even if a player promises to trade an item back to you, or promises to send you a better item later, know that they could be scamming you!
There's NO way to make sure that they'll give you the item back, and Animal Jam Support cannot help you once you've traded an item away!
ALWAYS look carefully at the item you're going to buy from someone's My Shop to make sure it's the item you want, at the price you want!
NEVER buy items you don't want or items at an unfair price, even if another player promises to sell you what you want later, or send it to you in AJ Classic!
If your account is disciplined, it is always for a reason! Remember that the actions you take on different accounts can have consequences for your main account!

Buddies & Bullies[]
Just like in the real world, Animal Jam will have some people you won't like being around! Stick to players you like hanging out with, and ignore, block, or report players who are bothering you or doing things that make you uncomfortable!
Sometimes when you're hanging out with friends or other people online, you'll run into a RED FLAG! Red flags are things that feel suspicious, uncomfortable, or unsafe! Anyone could do something that's a red flag, even a friend!
When a player is being mean to your or someone else, the best thing to do it BLOCK and REPORT them! If you try to be mean right back at them, you could end up breaking the Animal Jam rules too!
Being mean to another player could really hurt them. Remember: you're playing Animal Jam with other real people just like you!
Don't say anything to another player that you wouldn't want someone to say to YOU in person.
If you or someone you know is in trouble, find help! Let your adult know and contact an AJ Moderator if:
- Someone is hurting you or asking you to do things that you know aren't safe
- You think someone might be in danger or an unsafe situation
- You're in trouble, in danger or feeling unsafe
Animal Jam can feel like a safe place to express your emotions and talk about troubling things that are affecting you, but remember that your AJ friends may not be ready or able to give you the help you need! Instead, reach out to a trusted adult, family member, or a counselor!

Outside Animal Jam[]
Be careful in the online world outside Animal Jam! Scammers will try all sorts of tricks to get you to trust them, click on strange links, or give them your account information! They might even try to impersonate a popular player or AJHQ!
Someone can get into your account by sending you a strange link. If you open the link, it can become a key that lets them into your email account!
Once they're in, they can get into your Animal Jam account and take it over! This kind of scam is called PHISHING! Always be cautious of links, even from people you know!
NEVER enter your account information anywhere but inside the Animal Jam app, or ANIMALJAM.COM! Even in other languages, the login page will always say ANIMALJAM.COM in the URL!
If you enter your information or use the same password on a site that ISN'T ANIMALJAM.COM, you could be giving a scammer access your account!
There is misleading Animal Jam content on the internet!
Don't believe everything you see in a video or read online, ESPECIALLY if someone is claiming to be able to give you access to other accounts! These are often scams to get control of YOUR account!
The internet has a lot of great stuff, but it also has a lot of stuff that isn't right for you! Don't go looking for stuff that makes you feel bad or upset.
If you find yourself getting upset or angry when you're online, or encountering stuff that makes you uncomfortable, it's a good idea to back up, take a break, and even talk to your adult!
